Theodore had a plan worked out ahead of time, based on the weather and forecast. Food is one of our main reasons for traveling, and Nefeli did not disappoint - she's an excellent chef. Both she and Theodore were great with our kids. Would recommend both of them, and the boat, without hesitation."
"Spectacular weekly vacations in Greece. My wife and I cannot praise enough the experience that all the wonderful people we met arranged for us. During our planning and early communications, Eugene, and Joanna were both extremely professional, but also very friendly and accommodating, paying attention to our needs and desires and making useful suggestions. "Best Way to Experience Greece Greece is worldly known for its islands, particularly, the Cyclades. Having visited the popular island destinations, Santorini and Mykonos, before, my wife and I decided to explore the Saronic islands by boat. We researched many operators and I'm happy to say that the reviews about Yachtsailing Greece were very true. The scheduling, personalized attention, trip itinerary, and all the staff were excellent. Eugene was great to communicate the planning and making sure our expectations were met. We had Joe as our Captain, specifically selected by Eugene, to cater to our honeymoon. Joe is an expert sailor who provided a great nautical experience as well as the history of the places we visited. The catamaran was in great, clean condition, and very comfortable. "Yacht sailing is a really fun way to spend time with family and close friends. Since you will be on a boat together for 7 days, you need to choose who is invited wisely. We enjoyed our time on the Ace of Diamonds and Captain Theodore was great. We felt safe, even sailing at 50 knots on one of the crossings, which was quite an adventure. The rest of the trip was relaxing. Lots of good food, swimming and just enjoying the scenery. We decided against a hostess since it would be one more person on the boat. Captain Theodore was more than ideal, he was there when we needed him but gave us plenty of space and privacy. We would do another trip with this company in the future."
Fantastic vacation sailing through the Greek islands!
"This vacation was one of my favorites! I had no idea what to expect but I was amazed every day! The catamaran was wonderful, and it was luxurious in every way. There were so many places beyond the en suite cabins to hang out and enjoy each day and night. Every single person we met at this company, from the owner to Theodore, our phenomenal captain, was so gracious and helpful. It was clear they wanted us to have the best experience possible and would literally do anything in their power to make our lives easier and/or better! Theodore listened to what we wanted to see and experience, and then went out of his way to provide that and more! He heard that we wanted some archaeological experiences so he helped us hike up to the temple of Poseidon. At a different port, Theodore arranged to rent a car and he drove us 30 minutes outside of Nafplio to an archaeological site with a prearranged guide to lead us on a personal tour!! Combined with his amazing chef skills we were simply so lucky to have him as the captain of not just the yacht, but also our vacation!!"

"This was a trip of a lifetime! Our captain was Theodore and I can’t say enough about his knowledge, professionalism and care of our party of 8. The catamaran exceeded my expectations and I really enjoyed the various areas to relax and enjoy the trip. But I truly think it is the captain that can make or break a trip. We were sailing in May so weather is variable. He consulted with us about our “must sees” and made great suggestions to maximize our time through the Cyclades. I ended up enjoying the smaller islands and his knowledge of the people, restaurants and history was second to none. We swam, paddle-boarded, explored historical sites and enjoyed great food. My grandson had his birthday at home and when we called him he even found music for us to sing to him. I felt like he did a great job on the islands exposing us to food we hadn’t tried and making great suggestions. "We were 2 couples with Great Expectations coming into this trip and they were completely exceeded. I'm sure every experience with this company is amazing but I cannot imagine this trip with our Skipper Theodore and host Stefania, aptly dubbed "Stefania The Great." Theodore's proficiency managing the sailing duties, logistics, recommendations and planning were incredible. Transports and reservations were arranged in such an efficient manor that we were able to completely maximize our experience. Stefania's cooking and exceedingly affable nature were so appreciated. The two of them are innately designed for their positions. As an inquisitive person by nature Theo took the time to explain so many details in regards to the logistics of how he operates the boat. The water toys were amazing, the views phenomenal and the banter and camaraderie were unsurpassed. "We just had the trip of a lifetime with Theodore and Stephanie on the Ace of Diamonds (June 3-9th). The Greek Islands on their own are exceptional, but what really put this trip over the top were our Skipper, Theo and our host, Stephanie (affectionally referred to for the rest trip as "Stephanie the Great." These two went so far above and beyond to make sure we had an enjoyable trip. Together they provided a very friendly, welcoming, relaxing and inclusive environment. Theo is so good at navigating the winds through the cyclades that he made every port entry look easy. His meticulous attention to detail was very apparent and had our entire crew sailing with ease. Stephanie was our host and to say she is an excellent cook would be an understatement. You will not find a better restaurant on the islands than what Stephanie will freshly prepare for you each day. You can genuinely tell Stephanie loves to provide the guests with great tasting dishes that are unique to the greek experience and most likely not something you have had back in your native country. I really hope our paths cross again!!! These are just two great people providing a once in a lifetime experience. Thank you both!"

"What to say about the week we spent with YachtSailing? AMAZING ALL AROUND. We were four couples from the US sailing on the Ace of Diamonds. Our skipper, Theodore, could not have been more expert in his sailing skills, more attentive to the safety and comfort of all on the catamaran, and was an overall delight to interact with. We discussed which islands we would like to visit and he made it happen. Our hostess, Stephania, was top-notch in cooking traditional Greek dishes for us to enjoy and made sure we had everything we wanted, picking up various treats in the evening for us at many of the islands. The entire team of YachtSailing works like a fine-tuned machine, starting with the initial inquiries one year prior to the trip and ending with disembarkation after a fabulous week of sailing. Every day of the sailing trip was an adventure, including the coves we stopped in for lunch and water sports, to the islands we docked at for the evenings. A highlight was the private tour Theodore set up for us on Delos. Also, just the simple joy of sailing with full sails up catching the wind while enjoying drinks with our friends on the sun-drenched bow is a memory none of us will ever forget. It was clear that the goal of everyone in the YachtSailing organization was to make this a joyous, carefree experience and they exceeded expectations on every level. "Just got off Ace of Diamonds with Theo (captain) and Stefania (hostess) who were an amazing duo to lead our trip. Theo's knowledge of the Cyclades and command of the catamaran were a huge asset. Stefania was a great cook, had local treats on board daily, and made restaurant recos and reservations whenever we asked. And, both of them were so pleasant to be around which is important on a weeklong trip in close quarters. Working with Yacht Sailing (Eugene) prior to the trip was easy and the entire operation at the marina was impressive. I highly recommend using Yacht Sailing for a trip through the islands of Greece."

A wonderful week of sailing, swimming, exploring Greek islands and having huge family fun
"Due to a last minute change of holiday plans, we only booked this trip at the end of June. The week with Theodore and Stefanie surpassed all of our expectations. It was simply fab. It’s a very quick and straightforward transfer from Athens airport. Theodore the captain expertly planned our route with an eye on the winds for the week, to ensure we had good sailing but to lovely port towns and beaches. A warning! Theodore is not a good predictor of the time it will take to get to each place! Apparently he is called Three Hour Theo, but it never takes three hours. No matter. It was fun. Stefanie cooks great food, especially her yummy Souvlaki. We were well fed and couldn’t have asked for more from our lovely hostess. For a family holiday, we thought they were both great! Even though they introduced us to some strange Greek rules for Uno. What a surprise, unfortunately Theodore won that round (I won the first two, just saying). The only downside to our wonderful week, was the theft of some Haribo, Not pointing any fingers (Theo) but it was almost a firing offence according to the kids and some sea sickness that was dealt with swiftly and sympathetically. Stefanie was amazing with recommending ice cream spots and restaurant recommendations. The islands we visited were spectacular and we saw two turtles and a pod of dolphins and thousands of tropical fish. Our family of four (two girls aged 11 and 10) absolutely loved it. We have no hesitation in recommending this trip, this company, Ace of Diamonds (our boat) and most especially our Captain Theodore and hostess Stefanie. You won’t regret booking this trip. We will be back"

Theodore is an incredible skipper and navigated expertly through windy conditions and calm seas. We all felt safe and secure with Theodore at the helm. Amazing Cyclades sailing experience with Yacht Sailing
"We recently sailed with Theo and Stephanie on the ACE of Diamonds to the Cyclades islands for a week with a group of friends for my 40th birthday. It was our first time having any sort of sailing experience like this so we weren't too sure what to expect. I must say it was an awesome experience and if we were to do it again we would definitely want to do it with Theo and Stephanie at Yacht Sailing. Theo, as the captain, made some excellent decisions along the way which I am confident kept us safe and gave us the best possible experience with the weather and sailing conditions in mind. He knew we had to get out to the further islands to avoid the serious impending rain event which kept a lot of people in the closer islands boat bound in rain for days. Instead we had no rain, idealic swim spots and great island experiences. The trade-off is that we did have some quite rough seas as we copped the prevailing northerly wind which is more common in July and August, so some of our team experienced sea sickness, but I'll take that as a bonding experience! The boat was excellent. We had 7 in our group plus Theo and Stephanie. There are so many places to hang out or sunbake that it was perfect for a group our size or even slighter bigger. Washing machines, aircon, full size fridges, coffee facilities, hair dryer, were all a bonus. One of the big surprises was Stephanie's cooking. She did an excellent job planning, preparing and cleaning up after all of the meals. The quality of her meals was better than most restaurants! We can't believe at one stage we were considering being on a smaller boat and not having a host. The amount of time required to plan, shop, prepare, clean-up, and negotiate on tasks related to meals would have seriously detracted from our experience with a group this size. So if you're questioning whether to get a host, definitely do! Tips: 1. I would recommend to have some cash on you for the islands for taxis and for mooring fees (there are ATM's on the…"

"We didn’t have much expectations on this trip because one of the other couples planned it all. We figured we would just go with the flow. Wow did it blow us away. First off, our Captain Theodore maneuvered the boat like a pro. He found places to dock in spots I didn’t think were possible - adept sailor! His local knowledge of the islands helped us find great eateries and places of interest. He even found a tour guide for Delos. Just don’t play Mama Mia if you can avoid it - everyone plays that! Our chef Nefeli created wonderful meals for breakfast and lunch - wonderful hostess! I have already recommended the company to friends looking to experience their own trip. The Ace of Diamonds catamaran was a great boat, with space for us to have time on our own when we wanted solitude. Highly recommend!"
A Trip of a Lifetime
"This was truly a trip of a lifetime. It was amazing to wake up each day, sail to some secluded, breathtaking cove to swim, and then dash off to a new island where we would explore and eat and drink and shop. The company and catamaran (Ace of Diamonds) were top notch, highly recommend (I've already forwarded the info to multiple friends). Pre-trip, Marianna and Maria both answered my thousands of questions promptly, so we felt totally prepared. We elected to have breakfast and lunch on the boat cooked up by a wonderful hostess, Nefeli. Each day our group was on repeat about Nefeli’s food commenting “this was the best meal so far” which continued through to the last day. We had no idea how decadent the meals would be. They were such a treat and surprise highlight! Not only was her food amazing, but she was also such a thoughtful and understanding hostess. She was always receptive to all our requests and knew what we’d need or want before we even knew. At the helm of the Ace of Diamonds was Captain Theodore, who was not only a solid sailor and tour guide, but he's also the type of person you want around in an emergency. In fact, I had a personal emergency, and he was there every step of the way, going above and beyond, to make sure I was okay. I was truly blown away. He also gave great recommendations of where we could see the best sunsets and grab delightful bites. He arranged tours when we wanted them and helped wherever he could all with a fun sense of humor. We were lucky to have him. This was a trip my family, friends, and I will never forget. I can't recommend it enough!"

"We're so grateful for the BEST family vacation with Captain Theodore and Nefeli in Greece this summer! Our group included two families, with 4 children in total on the Ace of Diamonds yacht. The children had the best week of their lives, and the parents were able to relax and enjoy themselves all week thanks to Theodore and Nefeli. The week truly blew us away and we look back at pictures asking ourselves if it was real! Captain Theodore took us to the most amazing islands. We try to build the route around two main principles. The first is the profile of your group: how many hours you would like to sail each day, whether you are travelling with children, whether there are particular islands you definitely want to see, and what you generally enjoy doing - sightseeing, history, local life, swimming, snorkeling or simply spending time on the water. The second is the weather at the time of your arrival. These two things need to work together in order to create a trip that feels pleasant and relaxed rather than adventurous for the wrong reasons. Distance also comes into the equation. A successful week needs to strike a balance between many different things, not just sailing. You want time to enjoy the food, explore the islands, meet the locals, discover some history, read a book, paddleboard, snorkel, swim - or simply do absolutely nothing. All of this needs to find its place within the week. That also means having realistic expectations about how far you plan to go. We don't consider sailing endlessly just to reach another island part of the fun. Spending more hours at sea simply to tick destinations off a list can easily take away from everything else the trip has to offer. Last but not least, the yacht itself plays a role. A longer hull can generally achieve higher cruising speeds and cover distances more efficiently. Larger catamarans also place you higher above the waterline, offer more space and comfort, and can generally handle more demanding sea conditions with greater ease. So, beyond the accommodation and layout, the yacht you choose can also influence what makes sense for your itinerary. All in all, there are several things to consider when planning the week. Your group sets the priorities, your yacht helps define what is comfortable and realistic, and the weather always has the final say.
All our trips are fully customizable. There is no fixed itinerary. The final route is shaped together with you, based on your preferences (how many hours you wish to sail per day, whether you prefer sightseeing or relaxation, interest in hiking, swimming, local cuisine, etc.) and - most importantly - the weather conditions at the time of your trip. We do not pre-impose routes, nor do we force sailing long distances if conditions are unpleasant. The captain adjusts the plan daily to ensure the experience remains relaxed, safe, and enjoyable. You may also change plans during the trip and stay longer at places you enjoy.
In order to plan an accurate budget, you should consider the following costs in addition to the yacht price with crew. The figures below are based on averages we have seen from similar groups on previous charters and are intended as a realistic guide rather than fixed costs. Actual expenses will vary depending on your yacht, itinerary, preferences and the time of year you travel. * Fuel: Fuel consumption depends on the yacht, cruising distance, weather conditions and time of year. As a general guide, expect approximately 300-1000 liters, with a total cost in the region of €500-€1,900 for the week. You will receive the yacht with a full tank and refill it upon return. * End cleaning: €300, covering the preparation of the yacht, including cleaning, one set of bed linen, towels and tea towels, as well as the dinghy, outboard engine and gas bottles. * Port fees: Generally minimal, typically around €20-€50 per night, depending on the port or marina. * Crew provisioning: Approximately €25-€30 per crew member, per day for the crew's meals. * Guest provisioning: This depends entirely on your preferences and the food, beverages and alcohol you would like onboard. Your cook will organize the shopping according to your preferences so everything is ready for your arrival. All costs shown are for the entire group, not per person. Adding an additional guest after booking, provided the yacht's layout and permitted capacity allow it, does not change the weekly yacht price.
Meals are an important part of life onboard and are based around fresh, Greek and Mediterranean flavors, adapted to your group's preferences and dietary requirements. With our standard two-person crew setup (Captain and Cook/Host), the natural rhythm is breakfast followed by a substantial lunch or late lunch onboard, while evenings are a wonderful opportunity to step ashore and discover local restaurants and tavernas. One or two dinners onboard can also be arranged. On yachts operating with a three-person crew, the dining experience can be more extensive.
There really is no fixed schedule - and that is part of the experience. You may wake up in a quiet bay, have breakfast onboard and sail in the morning before stopping somewhere beautiful for swimming, paddleboarding or snorkeling. Lunch is often enjoyed onboard, followed by another short sail or time at anchor before arriving at an island later in the day. Evenings can be spent exploring ashore, having dinner in a local restaurant or simply enjoying the yacht. Some days involve more sailing, others almost none. The rhythm develops naturally around the weather, the route and what your group feels like doing.
Absolutely, but choosing the right itinerary is important. Catamarans provide generous space and a stable platform at anchor, although any yacht will move when sailing in open water. For families, younger children or guests who are particularly sensitive to motion, the Saronic Gulf is often an excellent choice because distances are shorter and the waters are generally more protected. Your captain can also adapt the route according to the conditions and your group. Children are welcome onboard and remain under their parents' supervision throughout the charter. Weather is always monitored closely, and itineraries are adapted to avoid unpleasant conditions. The objective is comfort and enjoyment, not endurance sailing.
Our charters operate on a Saturday-to-Saturday basis. On embarkation Saturday, yachts are typically ready from around 14:00 at our base in Alimos Marina, Athens. You are welcome to arrive at that time, board the yacht, and settle into your cabins. Your cook will have already arranged and purchased everything required for your meals, based on the preferences you have shared with us in advance. Everything will be onboard and ready for your arrival, so there is nothing else you need to organize. Once onboard: * The captain will welcome you and introduce the yacht. * A full safety briefing will take place. * You will discuss your preferences and possible routes based on the weather forecast. After these formalities, the trip begins immediately. Depending on your plans and weather conditions, you will usually sail for a few hours and enjoy your first swim or anchorage that very same day. On disembarkation, the yacht returns to the marina on Friday evening. You overnight onboard, and disembarkation takes place by 09:00 on Saturday morning. This timing allows the crew to properly clean, service and prepare the yacht for the next guests according to our standards.
Santorini is not realistically suited to a one-week charter from Athens. The distance requires more than long hours at sea and will quickly turn a sailing holiday into a trip focused simply on reaching one destination. This is not the nature of our trips. If Santorini is important to you, we strongly recommend spending two nights there before or after your charter. Flights from Athens take around 30-45 minutes and can often be found in the region of €80-€120, depending on dates and availability. And there is another reason we recommend experiencing Santorini this way: the real magic of Santorini is on the island, not around it. Its dramatic cliffs, villages, caldera views and sunsets are what make it exceptional. The surrounding waters are very deep, with steep and rocky coastlines, so it offers a very different experience from the bays, beaches and swimming stops that make a week by yacht so special. Our advice is simple: Santorini is absolutely worth visiting - but visit it by plane, and save your sailing week for the islands best experienced from the water. If you are chartering for two weeks, the picture changes completely. Santorini can then become part of a broader Cyclades itinerary without forcing the entire trip to revolve around getting there.
Some islands can be combined within a week; others cannot - at least not without sacrificing comfort. Mykonos and Paros are feasible from Athens within a week under favorable conditions. Santorini, Patmos, Anafi, and other southern or eastern islands are located over 180 nautical miles away and are not realistically reachable within a one-week sailing vacation without excessive daily sailing hours. For these distant islands, we strongly recommend visiting them by ferry or plane before or after your sailing trip. The true experience of a sailing vacation lies in balance, not in covering maximum miles.
Trips are weather-dependent, but this does not mean they are canceled. If strong winds or unfavorable conditions arise, the itinerary is adjusted to more protected areas. To date, we have not lost a single trip due to weather. Greece offers many alternative routes that remain beautiful and enjoyable even when conditions in one region are not ideal. Flexibility is essential and a key for a successful trip along with an elevated experience.
