"Bucket List" trip for our whole family!!!

"There were 6 of us on our catamaran including 2 teenagers. The boat was beautiful, comfortable, and clean. The skipper was amazing. He knew all the local places we should go that weren't so touristy. We climbed a volcano, snorkeled above ruins, swam in beautiful coves, rented ATVs and explored, ate the most amazing food, met friendly, gracious people, visited historic ancient sites, and more. It was the trip of a lifetime and Eugene and Maria were professional, kind and incredibly helpful."

Saronic islands and Peloponnesian coast! Trip of a life time!

"We departed Athens and sailed Poros, Hydra, Hermano, Spetses, Methana, Epidaurus! An incredible adventure with our great Capitan and really beautiful 42’catamaran! This is really is a trip of a lifetime, the islands are extremely beautiful, the food in every port was really exceptional! Let’s see favorite things… jockeying for spots in Hydra(you’ll know why you hired a skipper, but way too fun to watch) swimming in perfect blue lagoons every day, hiking the volcano in Methana, diving on the sunken city, my nephew catching a nice Amber Jack, getting a dolphin escort, getting some really great sailing days in and meeting really warm and engaging people in every port and all over Athens! Would I do it again, yes heading back again next year!"

Outstanding Charter Experience!

"I have chartered with several companies over the years and this outfit is top notch! Our captain for the week and was impeccable. We sailed the Cyclades; he knew the islands, he arranged for taxis in each port, and he navigated the high winds and big seas with ease. He was a kind man, professional in every way, and experienced. We chartered the Fantasy Lagoon 420; a catamaran that was spacious, clean, and in excellent condition. The electronics, refrigeration, heads/showers, engine, generators, stove, and AC all worked perfectly without incident. We will return to Greece and use YachtSailing.gr again. You can be confident booking with them!"

Price was fine. the boat was great and well equipped. they booked all transfers for us from Athens, did the first shopping delivered on the boat the day of departure. The BEST Sailing Experience

"We just came back from our vacation in Greece. We chartered the Lagoon 420 catamaran for a week for 4 adult and 2 teens. It was magic. Our itinerary: the Saronic Gulf- Poros, Erminoni, Hydra,Spetses, Methana and Epidaurus. We truly had a fantastic experience! Great service, great navigation, great skipper and also great cab drivers! The only regret: we stay 1 week only. Next time we' ll book for 2 weeks. Thank you Eugene and all for making our vacation memorable."

Great trip in the Greek islands!

"We spent 5 days in the Aegean and Saronic with our captain. From planning all the way in early winter though the actual vacation in July everything was seamless with Eugene. He was so responsive and quick, very informative and not pushy at all! Very knowledgable while always taking our needs and wish list into account. We rented the Fantasy, Lagoon 420 for 5 days and visited 4 very different islands. It was a unique experience getting to see such varied island (Serifos, Kythnos, Poros and Hydra). For first time sailers we really felt involved in the planning and were able to make educated decisions each day on our course taking into account weather, beaches, etc. Each double room has its own electric toilet and shower. Boat is equipped with wifi and A/C, which sometimes didn't work but otherwise everything was great! I recommend stopping at each port for dinner and breakfast and then spending the day in the ocean or at various beaches. Thank you Yachtsailing.gr for an unforgettable vacation!"

Greek islands with a yacht with professionals

"We rented a yacht form Yachtsailing.gr for a family vacation of 7 days on the Greek Islands. Everything was well organized and we got exactly what we expected. Our yacht had 4 cabins with 4 en-suite bathrooms and the whole experience was just awesome. Our skipper, was extremely professional and he accompanied us to various restaurants to give valuable advice on what Greek food to eat. All in all this was an unforgettable trip and counts amongst the top vacations I have ever had in my life of 64 years."

Bravo Yachtsailing.gr!

"We just returned from a 2 week trip out of Athens sailing the Cyclades and Saronic Islands aboard the 42 ft catamaran Fantasy. Working with Eugene and the staff was a pleasure. They were quick to respond to our many questions and accommodating to our needs and requests. From the moment we stepped on the boat we felt at home. Fantasy was more than spacious for 2 couples and our captain. We especially enjoyed the cushioned lounge at the bow! We also enjoyed the spacious outdoor dining under the canopy. The kitchen was well equipped including 2 refrigerators and 1 freezer. The herb garden was a nice touch. Our Captain was way more than a captain! He was a fantastic tour guide and became a great friend. He never steered us wrong from the islands we visited to the food we experienced. We would recommend Yachtsailing.gr highly for your sailing vacation in Greece. Thank you. Efcharisto."

"Awesome, unforgettable family holiday!! We were a family of three couples and two children aged 5 years and 22 months. Our skipper, had a diverse group to keep happy and had to be mindful of the two little ones who also needed time ashore as well. We were a challenging group. He was really great in recommending overnight stops and bay stops for swims and snorkeling. Our family loved every minute of this awesome holiday. We chose his advice not to do long distances because of the children. We did the Saronic islands and hopped from the islands to Peloponnese mainland, with a wonderful mix of little ports to very busy ones. We loved every place for its own charm but our favorites were Hydra and Nafplio- where we hired a car and went site-seeing. George always recommended good tavernas and we really enjoyed his company. George was eventually like one of the family and was really easy to get along with. We loved that he made us dinner one night we had a free swing in a beautiful bay. The catamaran Fantasy that we hired was spacious enough for 8 of us and allowed for wonderful relaxing on the front decks. Also well equipped with essentials. We also requested safety nets for the children. Although the boys were hoping for a bit more sailing, the wind was not right for this. Eugene and Maria were extremely helpful from our enquiries to the last day at the marina and were very obliging to keep our luggage for us so that we could enjoy it on the beach. We thank Yachtsailing.gr and George for an unforgettable family holiday! It was what families can only dream of. Highly recommend this company."

Wonderful chartered catamaran trip with YachtSailing!

"Eugene was incredibly thorough and helpful throughout multiple emails as we researched different boat and sail options for our trip of two families. We booked the Lagoon 420 “Fantasy,” which proved to be perfect for our families with 4 teenagers (ages 15, 13). We found the boat to be comfortable, spacious and in excellent condition. Our capable captain who provided restaurant options and joined in our board games along the way. YachtSailing.gr not only provided us with a great boat and competent captain, but also provisioned the boat and helped arrange transportation to the marina from Athens. We had a fantastic trip to Kea and Kythnos (be sure to go to the Hora on both!) in the Cyclades before heading back to the Saronic (Poros, Hydra, Aegina) due to strong August winds. We ended up loving both sailing areas even though we started the trip thinking we were most interested in the Cyclades."

A private charter is an outstanding way to see the Greek Isles. Every port has a unique and distinct feel. What a bliss !!

"Since we have been hearing our friends who had the chance to do different routes with this company twice, we already had great expectations about the trip. We were a group of four friends, and rented a catamaran Lagoon 420. Once we agreed upon the route with skipper's factual and professional recommendations, our journey began..needless to say the places we visited were divine ( especially nafplio and hydra) but the exprience itself was once in a life time and way beyond our expectations..from the bays we visited along the way, to the restaurants and attractions George suggessted were really amazing. We have a long winter ahead of us but knowing that we have something to look forward to for next summer will worth waiting :) A huge thank you to YachtSailing.gr !!!"

A great week cruising the Saronic islands!

"We really loved this trip. We were two couples, no kids (at last!) and wanted a relaxed holiday. Eugene and the team were easy, efficient and friendly to deal with, from the first enquiry to the final hand back off the boat. We hired a 420 Lagoon catamaran - Fantasy - so we had loads of room. We were new to that part of Greece, although we had some ideas about where we wanted to go. We felt that our skipper really worked with us to make sure we got the maximum out of each day and each place we visited, whether it was suggesting a restaurant or an activity (e.g. on Spetses he told us that hiring e-bikes to ride round the 26km around the island was a great thing to do and he was right, we loved it and would not otherwise have done it). He is passionate about Greece and the islands and gave us the local knowledge that makes a place come alive. The boat itself was great, new and also pretty stable in the sea. We spent 4 hours crossing between islands in 35 knot winds (our idea, not the captains) and it was fine, no one was sick. We will definitely use this company again and have recommended it to our friends"

Trip of a lifetime

"We just completed our week long cruise from Athens to the Saronic islands. It was amazing and I would highly recommend going with Yachtsailing GR. Maria in the office was so helpful in answering questions and making arrangements for our trip and transfers. I use a CPAP machine and they were able to put an inverter into a cabin so I could use it without problems. We were a group of five on a smaller catamaran. Our captain was Josef and he helped us determine our itinerary. We embarked just after a gale and have two passengers who get seasick and he recommended heading to the Saronic islands rather than to the Cyclades. We would have shorter sailing times. He did start in a way so that if we did well the first two days we could then head to the Cyclades when the waters would be calmer. We had about two hours of seasickness at the beginning and then did great after. We decided to stay in the Saronic Islands and it was wonderful. Josef chose great swim stops that were not crowded and always docked in great spots. He would give us recommendations for dinner and exploring. Beautiful sunsets. We were fortunate to have Alex as our hostess as she is usually on a bigger boat and her food was amazing and well presented. She did a fabulous job with some peculiar allergies and a vegetarian on board. The non-vegetarians were enjoying those options as well! We were teary saying goodbye to them both at the end of our week! Fully recommended as Josef would say!!"

"We had an absolutely AMAZING Greek island sailing adventure! From start to finish, YachtSailing.GR co made everything effortless. They provided thorough info beforehand and were responsive and helpful with every email. Costs & expectations were just as promised… and honestly, even better! What made our sailing trip even more incredible was our captain, Joseph. He was the perfect mix of professional, knowledgeable, and kind. His docking skills were so impressive, he actually got applause at one port! He gave us local tips at every stop and even found quiet, hidden swim spots that made the longer sail days feel like a dream. Our entire group HIGHLY recommends this company, the Fantasy L420 catamaran, and our captain Joseph. We’re already planning our return trip!"

"We had a great week on Fantasy with Captain Joseph. He understood quickly what sort of places we wanted to visit and arranged the week accordingly. Swimming in quiet bays during the day before mooring overnight in various islands and eating in his recommended restaurants. Unforgettable time

"We were a company of 6 adults sailing Fantasy L42 the second week of September . This trip was supposed to happen 5 years ago when covid hit. For 5 years we have communicated with Eugene who was always responsive, patient, and very pleasant. We finally made it happen! Our captain Joseph was absolutely great, super thoughtful, very professional, and always courteous. We enjoyed long conversations and laughs. The boat met our expectations, had many small conveniences and AC which we enjoyed mainly at night. We didn't have a hostess so procured the provision in an online sore recommend by Maria ( i think) which was promptly delivered before our departure. The entire process from day one was well explained, so we had not a single problem or misunderstanding. I did ask a lot of questions, which were promptly answered. We can't wait to sail again with this agency!"

Awesome family trip! Memories will last a lifetime!

"Our extended family of eight, ranging in age from ten to over sixty, traveled in September on the Fantasy L420. Our skipper was Joe, and he was absolutely fantastic! He was like our own private tour guide at each port, and he took the time to recommend activities to fit each of our personalities! He also suggested awesome restaurants for dinner where we were treated like V.I.P.s, just because of Joe's connection! We chose to sail the Saronic islands as it was the 1st time sailing for all of us. We were very happy with this decision, as the majority of the sailing was smooth and comfortable. Each island was unique in its own way, and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring them all. Also, all the staff at Yacht Sailing were phenomenal to deal with. They were all extremely efficient, quick at answering questions, and there were no surprises with unexpected expenses. Everything ended up being less than what we estimated, which was a happy surprise at the end! After disemarking, we all missed Skipper Joe and the boat, and it was a unanimous opinion that it was the experience of a lifetime, thanks to Yacht Sailing and Skipper Joe!"

Undeniably the best vacation I have had

"My husband and I had a wonderful experience with YachtSailing.gr this October (2025)! We sailed aboard Fantasy, a 42ft catamaran, for a week, and we had Joe as our wonderful captain and Alice as our fantastic cook. They created an impeccable experience for us, taking our preferences into consideration and taking the time to understand what we wanted out of our vacation. We visited 5 islands during our time there, with each having its own distinct characteristics. It was really nice to experience a small taste of the variety of life that the islands hold. On board, all our food and drink needs were met and the food was some of the best I have had anywhere (Thank you Alice!). My husband loves to sail and I love adventures so this was a win/win. If you are looking to charter in the Greek islands, I highly recommend going through YachtSailing.gr!"

Good to know

How do you plan the itinerary?

We try to build the route around two main principles. The first is the profile of your group: how many hours you would like to sail each day, whether you are travelling with children, whether there are particular islands you definitely want to see, and what you generally enjoy doing - sightseeing, history, local life, swimming, snorkeling or simply spending time on the water. The second is the weather at the time of your arrival. These two things need to work together in order to create a trip that feels pleasant and relaxed rather than adventurous for the wrong reasons. Distance also comes into the equation. A successful week needs to strike a balance between many different things, not just sailing. You want time to enjoy the food, explore the islands, meet the locals, discover some history, read a book, paddleboard, snorkel, swim - or simply do absolutely nothing. All of this needs to find its place within the week. That also means having realistic expectations about how far you plan to go. We don't consider sailing endlessly just to reach another island part of the fun. Spending more hours at sea simply to tick destinations off a list can easily take away from everything else the trip has to offer. Last but not least, the yacht itself plays a role. A longer hull can generally achieve higher cruising speeds and cover distances more efficiently. Larger catamarans also place you higher above the waterline, offer more space and comfort, and can generally handle more demanding sea conditions with greater ease. So, beyond the accommodation and layout, the yacht you choose can also influence what makes sense for your itinerary. All in all, there are several things to consider when planning the week. Your group sets the priorities, your yacht helps define what is comfortable and realistic, and the weather always has the final say.

Is the itinerary fixed, or can we customize our route?

All our trips are fully customizable. There is no fixed itinerary. The final route is shaped together with you, based on your preferences (how many hours you wish to sail per day, whether you prefer sightseeing or relaxation, interest in hiking, swimming, local cuisine, etc.) and - most importantly - the weather conditions at the time of your trip. We do not pre-impose routes, nor do we force sailing long distances if conditions are unpleasant. The captain adjusts the plan daily to ensure the experience remains relaxed, safe, and enjoyable. You may also change plans during the trip and stay longer at places you enjoy.

What is included in the charter price, and what should we budget for separately?

In order to plan an accurate budget, you should consider the following costs in addition to the yacht price with crew. The figures below are based on averages we have seen from similar groups on previous charters and are intended as a realistic guide rather than fixed costs. Actual expenses will vary depending on your yacht, itinerary, preferences and the time of year you travel. * Fuel: Fuel consumption depends on the yacht, cruising distance, weather conditions and time of year. As a general guide, expect approximately 300-1000 liters, with a total cost in the region of €500-€1,900 for the week. You will receive the yacht with a full tank and refill it upon return. * End cleaning: €300, covering the preparation of the yacht, including cleaning, one set of bed linen, towels and tea towels, as well as the dinghy, outboard engine and gas bottles. * Port fees: Generally minimal, typically around €20-€50 per night, depending on the port or marina. * Crew provisioning: Approximately €25-€30 per crew member, per day for the crew's meals. * Guest provisioning: This depends entirely on your preferences and the food, beverages and alcohol you would like onboard. Your cook will organize the shopping according to your preferences so everything is ready for your arrival. All costs shown are for the entire group, not per person. Adding an additional guest after booking, provided the yacht's layout and permitted capacity allow it, does not change the weekly yacht price.

What can we expect from meals onboard?

Meals are an important part of life onboard and are based around fresh, Greek and Mediterranean flavors, adapted to your group's preferences and dietary requirements. With our standard two-person crew setup (Captain and Cook/Host), the natural rhythm is breakfast followed by a substantial lunch or late lunch onboard, while evenings are a wonderful opportunity to step ashore and discover local restaurants and tavernas. One or two dinners onboard can also be arranged. On yachts operating with a three-person crew, the dining experience can be more extensive.

What is a typical day onboard like?

There really is no fixed schedule - and that is part of the experience. You may wake up in a quiet bay, have breakfast onboard and sail in the morning before stopping somewhere beautiful for swimming, paddleboarding or snorkeling. Lunch is often enjoyed onboard, followed by another short sail or time at anchor before arriving at an island later in the day. Evenings can be spent exploring ashore, having dinner in a local restaurant or simply enjoying the yacht. Some days involve more sailing, others almost none. The rhythm develops naturally around the weather, the route and what your group feels like doing.

Is a yacht charter suitable for families or guests who are concerned about seasickness?

Absolutely, but choosing the right itinerary is important. Catamarans provide generous space and a stable platform at anchor, although any yacht will move when sailing in open water. For families, younger children or guests who are particularly sensitive to motion, the Saronic Gulf is often an excellent choice because distances are shorter and the waters are generally more protected. Your captain can also adapt the route according to the conditions and your group. Children are welcome onboard and remain under their parents' supervision throughout the charter. Weather is always monitored closely, and itineraries are adapted to avoid unpleasant conditions. The objective is comfort and enjoyment, not endurance sailing.

How do embarkation and disembarkation work?

Our charters operate on a Saturday-to-Saturday basis. On embarkation Saturday, yachts are typically ready from around 14:00 at our base in Alimos Marina, Athens. You are welcome to arrive at that time, board the yacht, and settle into your cabins. Your cook will have already arranged and purchased everything required for your meals, based on the preferences you have shared with us in advance. Everything will be onboard and ready for your arrival, so there is nothing else you need to organize. Once onboard: * The captain will welcome you and introduce the yacht. * A full safety briefing will take place. * You will discuss your preferences and possible routes based on the weather forecast. After these formalities, the trip begins immediately. Depending on your plans and weather conditions, you will usually sail for a few hours and enjoy your first swim or anchorage that very same day. On disembarkation, the yacht returns to the marina on Friday evening. You overnight onboard, and disembarkation takes place by 09:00 on Saturday morning. This timing allows the crew to properly clean, service and prepare the yacht for the next guests according to our standards.

Can we visit Santorini during a one-week charter from Athens?

Santorini is not realistically suited to a one-week charter from Athens. The distance requires more than long hours at sea and will quickly turn a sailing holiday into a trip focused simply on reaching one destination. This is not the nature of our trips. If Santorini is important to you, we strongly recommend spending two nights there before or after your charter. Flights from Athens take around 30-45 minutes and can often be found in the region of €80-€120, depending on dates and availability. And there is another reason we recommend experiencing Santorini this way: the real magic of Santorini is on the island, not around it. Its dramatic cliffs, villages, caldera views and sunsets are what make it exceptional. The surrounding waters are very deep, with steep and rocky coastlines, so it offers a very different experience from the bays, beaches and swimming stops that make a week by yacht so special. Our advice is simple: Santorini is absolutely worth visiting - but visit it by plane, and save your sailing week for the islands best experienced from the water. If you are chartering for two weeks, the picture changes completely. Santorini can then become part of a broader Cyclades itinerary without forcing the entire trip to revolve around getting there.

Can we visit Mykonos, Naxos and other Cycladic islands in one week?

Some islands can be combined within a week; others cannot - at least not without sacrificing comfort. Mykonos and Paros are feasible from Athens within a week under favorable conditions. Santorini, Patmos, Anafi, and other southern or eastern islands are located over 180 nautical miles away and are not realistically reachable within a one-week sailing vacation without excessive daily sailing hours. For these distant islands, we strongly recommend visiting them by ferry or plane before or after your sailing trip. The true experience of a sailing vacation lies in balance, not in covering maximum miles.

What happens if the weather is bad? Will the trip be canceled?

Trips are weather-dependent, but this does not mean they are canceled. If strong winds or unfavorable conditions arise, the itinerary is adjusted to more protected areas. To date, we have not lost a single trip due to weather. Greece offers many alternative routes that remain beautiful and enjoyable even when conditions in one region are not ideal. Flexibility is essential and a key for a successful trip along with an elevated experience.
