A vacation to remember!

"From the moment I reached out to Eugene via email for the first time, to the day we sadly said our good-bye’s, the team at yachtsailing.gr was phenomenal! Angelo not only made us feel safe the entire week, he also created an itinerary for us that checked off each one of our requests! Vicky was hands down the best decision we made for the week!! She took such great care of us...having our coffee in hand within minutes of waking up each morning and fed us amazing authentic Greek cuisine every day! We wanted to bring her home with us!! Sailing was a new adventure for all 4 of us but it will definitely not be our last...it has proven to be a phenomenal way to travel! Thank you a million times yachtsailing.gr for helping us to make memories that will last a lifetime!!"

"Amazing trip on the Poker Face with a great skipper! We had an incredible trip over the past week on the Poker Face catamaran. Our skipper - Theodore - went above and beyond to make our voyage extremely fun, relaxing and memorable. We visited the islands of Hydra, Paros, Kithnos, and Siros - it was a ton of fun. From the very start the team at YachtSailing were extremely professional and accommodating. Theodore put together a fantastic itinerary based on our preferences, and kept a keen eye on the changing weather. One note: when ordering food ahead of time, make sure to confirm quantities as they tend to buy in kilos and not individual items (so 3 carrots actually means 3 kilos of carrots!). Overall, couldn’t recommend this trip any more. Amazing boat, fantastic crew, and beautiful sights. We’ll be back!"

"Excellent service made for a wonderful trip. We returned a week ago from a 6 day trip on the Poker Face catamaran. It was wonderful. There was great communication from the beginning with Eugene and we felt like he worked with us on the price and listened to what we wanted in a boat. Once we arrived, we were thrilled with the catamaran. It was roomy, and had areas both in the sun and shade that we could hang out it. Our captain, Thodoris was the consummate professional. He sat down with us and we determined out itinerary together. He suggested a place that we had never heard of, and it ended up being off the beaten track, and the highlight of our trip. He worked hard to ensure our comfort, even moving the boat one evening to reduce wave action, and changing out the mooring ropes so that the noise at night was reduced. There were only three of us on the yacht, but we felt the price we paid was very reasonable. It was such a treat to have it just for our small family. My only suggestion is that you really don't need to bother with getting groceries ordered ahead of time. Each island will have grocery stores near the docks, and you can get whatever you want, without waste. It was very easy to get the provisions, as well as find great, reasonable restaurants nearby. Eugene met us upon our return to ensure everything was great on our trip, and it was. We hope to sail with this group again in the future."

"I went on a trip with 3 other guests (2 couples) in late April/early May and we had an absolutely phenomenal time, and loved working with the Yacht Sailing Gr team. Upon first email, they were quick to respond and providing lots of clear information around every question we asked - Eugene made us feel like we were covered. Prior to arrival, they helped us with grocery shopping and stocking the boat. Finding the boat at the marina was easy (took 5 mins!), and they generously gave us an upgrade to the Poker Face because our other catamaran was having some engine issues. Poker Face is an astoundingly beautiful boat - everything was not only clean, but working in perfect order. So many wonderful places to lounge, read, play games or have a drink. Within an hour of getting situated, we were out on the water making our journey (groceries were already loaded in on the boat!) Eugene was there to greet us and helped us get situated, manage payment and work on route with our captain, which leads me to my next point... Our captain Theodore was incredible - he helped us plan a route that accommodated ALL of our needs/desires (less crazy/crowded, balance of Saronic islands and Cyclades), all while factoring in weather and experience on the journey. We had so much fun with him, and it wouldn't have been the same trip without him. All the same, he was also respectful of our space and gave us time to hang out independently as well. He was respectful, hilarious, accommodating, and always made us feel safe on the boat. Had lots of great restaurant, bar and hangout recommendations along the way that were phenomenal. Our journey was unforgettable and covered so many places we wanted to see in a short amount of time - Hydra, Kitnos, Paros, Siros and back, all in 6 days. I only wish we could have stayed longer! Our experience was so wonderful, I already have plans to return back to Greece and hopefully work with YachtSailing to explore other areas of the Cyclades for a longer period of…"

"Just spent a magical week cruising around the Cyclades with captain George Maleas and our group of three couples. Having never done a trip like this before, we had lots of questions that were patiently and thoroughly answered by Eugene via email in the months leading up to our departure. Joanna was also helpful and kind while helping us with transfers, boat provisioning, and payment. We couldn't be happier about our amazing experiences with yachtsailing. Everything far exceeded our expectations from the quality of the catamaran to the places we visited to our knowledgeable captain. George really knows these islands well and took us to some beautiful coves for swimming and quintessential little island villages for exploring. We visited Poros, Milos, Kimolos, Serifos, and Kythnos and each island was more beautiful than the last. Thank you, George, Eugene, and the entire yachtsailing team for an unforgettable experience! It was a trip of a lifetime!"

"Just returned from a fabulous mid-June week cruising around the Cyclades. Eugene and Joanna were a delight to work with and were very helpful with transportation, boat provisioning, and answering our many questions prior to the trip. Our boat, Poker Face, was comfortable and spacious for three couples. And our captain, George Maleas, was a perfect fit for our group -- professional, laid-back and friendly. He set an itinerary that was well-suited to the group and always seemed to be one step ahead in terms of timing at marinas or scenic stops. He was very well-connected on the islands and knew great restaurants, bars, and swimming spots. A highlight was spending a night anchored in a beautiful cove, swimming and paddle boarding through caves, and enjoying a wonderful dinner on the boat. A huge thank you to George, Eugene, and the entire YachtSailing team for the outstanding trip!"

"We are a family of five who travel often. Everyone agrees that this was one of our favorite trips ever. Our skipper George Maleas and hostess Josie were integral in making memories we will not soon forget. They both listened carefully to what we wanted and made suggestions accordingly. We ended up completely changing our itinerary based on their suggestions and were sooooo happy we did. We saw and experienced things the typical larger Greek Island Tourists are not privy to. Also noteworthy was the superb (REALLY superb) communication from the team (Eugene in particular). Rest assured this is a company who states all costs & information BEFORE booking. An honest company that can and should be trusted."

"Bucket list! We recently spent a week on a Lagoon 450 that we chartered with Dimitris and Dora as our superb captain and hostess. - Eugene's communication is outstanding .... we traded probably 45 emails with fine details about our trip beginning 6 months prior. And it was great meeting him, particularly as we debriefed with him at the end of the trip where he truly wanted to hear what went well and our suggestions for improvement - The rest of the yachtsailing.gr team was great too, particularly Joanna - Dimitris is a wonderful captain and person. He collaborated with us on the route and islands, gave us great island recommendations, helped negotiate prices with the local merchants, and talked with us forever about life, Greece, culture, and family - Dora is a wonderful, friendly, and helpful hostess - Our catamaran, a 45-foot lagoon, was beautiful and well-maintained Everything was "as advertised" ... Eugene and team go out of their way to make sure that communication is excellent and expectations are very clear. The only concern I shared with Eugene is that the check-in process was a bit chaotic, due to the large number of boats going out that day. If you're planning to sail in Greece, I highly recommend yachtsailing.gr!!"

Great Sail, Very Relaxed Trip

"Our recent charter arranged by yachtsailing.gr was a great experience. Prior to the trip all of the communication was clear and easy, the expenses/fees were reasonable and clearly communicated. No hidden extras like other charters we’ve booked. The boat was clean and well appointed. Our captain, Spiros, was perfect. He had a great command of the boat, helped us plan an itinerary that really worked for us given our desires and the anticipated winds - a great balance of sailing and sightseeing. The sailing was fantastic. His passion for being under sail really shows. His warm demeanor definitely added to the success and relaxed atmosphere of our trip. He helped arrange taxis and reservations, was always available for questions, and made us feel very welcome aboard Poker Face. We’ll sail again with him in a heartbeat. Thanks to everyone at yachtsailing.gr for a great trip."

Sun, sails, sea and service. The best way to see the Cyclades

"The excellent service provided by the crew, on a well maintained catamaran. The preparations went really smoothly with Yacht Sailing being very flexible to our wishes and taking care of many things that otherwise would have cost us a lot of time. But… the main difference on top of this is what the crew made. Our Captain Spiros was in full control of the boat, provided lots of information on the shore visits, was a great companion. I admire his dedication to safety and treating the boat lik his own. Nefeli was our stewardess and was also a great companion. Hard working and fully dedicated to her work, ensuring we had a great time with truly excellent food and drink. We all became friends and that was absolutely a lot of added value. Thanks you two!"

Amazing Vacation Experience

"Just completed a week on Poker Face sailing the Cyclades and it was an amazing vacation experience! The entire process dealing with YachtSailing.gr was excellent and exceeded my expectations. From the initial booking, communication prior to arrival, check-in and departure was all handled professionally and as they said it would be. Our Captain, Spiros, and hostess, Aliki, truly made the experience exceptional and the vacation unforgettable! They worked so well as a Team to curate a personal and special experience for us each day. Prior to departing Spiros sat with us and asked what we wanted on our vacation - how much we wanted to sail each day, how much time we wanted at the beach, and how much time we wanted to spend on each island. Aliki asked about our food preferences, drink requests and anything else we wanted / needed. Everyday Spiros and Aliki exceeded our expectations, making our vacation a truly unique and memorable experience. Spiros communicated our route, expected travel time and sea/wind conditions. Aliki went shopping and purchased fresh items for breakfast and lunch (and ice for me!) - her meals were simply incredible! The quality, selection, and taste were incredible!! I cannot express enough how awesome Siros and Aliki are!! I would absolutely do business with YaghtSailing.gr again - and will absolutely request Spiros and Aliki!!"

Perfect Yacht Sailing Experience

"Our group of 8 friends spent a week on Poker Face with Spyros as our captain sailing the Cyclades. First of all, I would like to say that the experience from start to finish was absolutely wonderful. Yacht Sailing staff responded to queries promptly with required information. The port staff at arrival and departure were very professional and efficient - thank you Alex and staff. The cruise will leave us with a lifetime of memories. Spyros was a really pleasant and fun captain and we really appreciated being on his boat. We also elected the Hostess option which was absolutely a great decision. Nefeli prepared great meals for us while on board and we truly appreciated having her with us. I can't say enough about our experience on this trip."

Amazing doesn’t do it justice!

"We accompanied a group of our friends on a week long sailing trip of the Cyclades Islands in early July on Pokerface and had the time of our lives. No joke, the best vacation experience we have ever had. Our Skipper Spiros Vasileiou and Hostess Gina Tasopoulou played no small part in that evaluation as they provided their assigned roles and responsibilities of course but went so far beyond that, they added a layer of authenticity to the trip with the traditional Greek cuisine prepared daily, the historical knowledge of the different islands and features, as guides on the islands and became an extended family to us, we still keep up with both of them today. I knew when we were planning this trip that we would be visiting some of the most beautiful places on the planet but was still in awe of what we were provided. We went to places that you just can’t get to without a capable vessel. The company proved to be the best choice as well, we encountered several other vessels of the fleet and got to know a couple of the other skippers, they all get along well and can work as a team if needed, at sea or on the islands. We planned this as a “once in a lifetime” type of adventure, and unfortunately that just isn’t accurate… we will return to sail again and again! There’s always more islands to see after all!"

Carefree Sailing in the Greek Islands

"Great trip through the Saronic Islands as two couples. Our boat was just the right size, and with a Captain and a hostess, all of our needs were met. Spiros, the captain took us to some amazing destinations and made sure we had dinner recommendations every night. Our hostess, Aliki, cooked us some fabulous breakfasts and lunches, and make sure that we had everything we needed. And…when one of us got a throat infection, the captain personally found a doctor, scheduled the appointment and went to the location and took pictures of the entrance to unsure we were covered! We had a fabulous time and will return."

Loved, loved, loved our week on Pokerface!

"Sailing in the Greek Islands has been a dream for many years, and the wait was worth it! This was one of the best weeks of my life, and I believe my friends would agree. The boat was amazing, the food spectacular, the water and beaches were unlike anything I’ve seen before, and our skipper, Spiros and hostess, Gina were the icing on the cake! We visited beautiful Grecian towns, with trips to old churches, ruins, wonderful local artisan shops, and very good restaurants. Hours of diving into clear, gorgeous waters, snorkeling in tunnels and exploring coastlines as well as hours of blissful sailing were part of each day, as well as basking in the sun and reading, talking, drinking wine and chatting with friends and our wonderful captain and hostess. The accommodations were also very comfortable… so much more than I expected! Thank you, Spiros and Gina for the trip of a life time! Well, the first Greek sailing trip of a lifetime anyway! See you next time!"

Amazing Trip!!

"We just returned from an amazing week. Together with 7 friends we enjoyed the great weather, food and beautiful places in Greece. During this week we were very fortunate to have Spiros Vasileiou as our Skipper. Spiros wanted to make sure everybody felt comfortable on the boat so always checked the best options for the whole group. He showed us different Islands and also beautiful spots on the main land. Also he shared nice options for dinner, arranged quad riding for us and wine tasting. Even for October the weather was great and we could also enjoy two days of sailing. This was not just once in a lifetime experience, really worth to do again, so much more to explore. We would really recommend Spiros as a skipper to anyone else and book him again when we come back!"

Sailing on Poker Face with Konstantinos & Elisabeth...FABULOUS!

"I have dreamed of sailing the Greek islands for 40 years and our week on Poker Face did not disappoint. We went where the wind (and skipper) took us and enjoyed the unique charms of each island we visited. It was a memorable week of relaxation and fun thanks to our trusty skipper and hostess. Konstantinos handled the boat with ease, made restaurant reservations/recommendations, booked tours, and shared interesting facts about each island. Elisabeth was the most attentive and thoughtful hostess you could ever want. She delighted us daily with her bubbly personality and delicious meals, which were always beautifully presented. Do not hesitate to book a charter with YachtSailing—the operation is top notch! I've already recommended them to three different friend groups. Communication with Eugene and Maria was friendly, efficient, and responsive from the moment I expressed interest in booking a charter until we left the marina for the next phase of our adventures in Greece. P.S. Ditto what my friend DesertDave said and check out the photos of our week on the waters of antiquity."

A superb experience from booking to island itineraries to the crew, meals and amenities.

"From the booking process to developing our itinerary to the actual sailing trip (one week), Yacht Sailing provided an excellent adventure to our group of 7. The (45 ft.) catamaran "Poker Face" exceeded expectations in the cabin size, amenities, deck space, eating space, kitchen, etc. All modern, in good working order and clean. The captain (Konstantinos) and Hostess (Elisabeth) were outstanding.....very friendly, conversant and experts on all of the island destinations. The meals were superb; wonderful Greek meals full of flavor, locally sourced and expertly prepared...and large portions for everyone! On a daily basis, the crew consulted with us about destination options, preferences, etc. Their insight was invaluable and provided a most memorable trip for all. Fun with Family!

"We took our young adult children and their significant others on the catamaran Poker Face. Everything was fairly easy as far as planning, making payments and adding extras. We did pay the extra €200 euros for luggage storage which I highly recommend. I’m not sure what you would do otherwise. There is no extra room on the boat. We also paid the extra €100 for the Wi-Fi which I thought was a good deal. We also added on the paddle boards and the sea scooter. Both were a big hit, especially the paddle boards since the water is so cold. We had Angelo as our captain and Anna Maria as our hostess. Angelo took great care of us during our week on the boat. He arranged for our taxis on land and made reservations at some great restaurants. Our first stop was Kythnos which is a small island that we enjoyed exploring. Our next stop was Syros which was a bigger island. We were there for three nights as it was pretty windy. There was plenty to explore in Syros! And to the last island we went to was Kea. This was the smallest island we went to. These less touristy islands are a lot of fun to see. Just keep in mind that the weather dictates where you go! Anna Maria had our breakfast ready every morning, which was always really good and she provided hot meals for our lunches. Everything she made was excellent! This was a true vacation even for a mom. We did spend about €1000 on food and also spent over €600 on fuel. We probably had a few hundred extra euros in port fees and extra expenses. The taxis are not cheap as well. We enjoyed our time on the boat. It is tight quarters but not uncomfortable. Overall it was an excellent experience and I would definitely recommend!"

Good to know

How do you plan the itinerary?

We try to build the route around two main principles. The first is the profile of your group: how many hours you would like to sail each day, whether you are travelling with children, whether there are particular islands you definitely want to see, and what you generally enjoy doing - sightseeing, history, local life, swimming, snorkeling or simply spending time on the water. The second is the weather at the time of your arrival. These two things need to work together in order to create a trip that feels pleasant and relaxed rather than adventurous for the wrong reasons. Distance also comes into the equation. A successful week needs to strike a balance between many different things, not just sailing. You want time to enjoy the food, explore the islands, meet the locals, discover some history, read a book, paddleboard, snorkel, swim - or simply do absolutely nothing. All of this needs to find its place within the week. That also means having realistic expectations about how far you plan to go. We don't consider sailing endlessly just to reach another island part of the fun. Spending more hours at sea simply to tick destinations off a list can easily take away from everything else the trip has to offer. Last but not least, the yacht itself plays a role. A longer hull can generally achieve higher cruising speeds and cover distances more efficiently. Larger catamarans also place you higher above the waterline, offer more space and comfort, and can generally handle more demanding sea conditions with greater ease. So, beyond the accommodation and layout, the yacht you choose can also influence what makes sense for your itinerary. All in all, there are several things to consider when planning the week. Your group sets the priorities, your yacht helps define what is comfortable and realistic, and the weather always has the final say.

Is the itinerary fixed, or can we customize our route?

All our trips are fully customizable. There is no fixed itinerary. The final route is shaped together with you, based on your preferences (how many hours you wish to sail per day, whether you prefer sightseeing or relaxation, interest in hiking, swimming, local cuisine, etc.) and - most importantly - the weather conditions at the time of your trip. We do not pre-impose routes, nor do we force sailing long distances if conditions are unpleasant. The captain adjusts the plan daily to ensure the experience remains relaxed, safe, and enjoyable. You may also change plans during the trip and stay longer at places you enjoy.

What is included in the charter price, and what should we budget for separately?

In order to plan an accurate budget, you should consider the following costs in addition to the yacht price with crew. The figures below are based on averages we have seen from similar groups on previous charters and are intended as a realistic guide rather than fixed costs. Actual expenses will vary depending on your yacht, itinerary, preferences and the time of year you travel. * Fuel: Fuel consumption depends on the yacht, cruising distance, weather conditions and time of year. As a general guide, expect approximately 300-1000 liters, with a total cost in the region of €500-€1,900 for the week. You will receive the yacht with a full tank and refill it upon return. * End cleaning: €300, covering the preparation of the yacht, including cleaning, one set of bed linen, towels and tea towels, as well as the dinghy, outboard engine and gas bottles. * Port fees: Generally minimal, typically around €20-€50 per night, depending on the port or marina. * Crew provisioning: Approximately €25-€30 per crew member, per day for the crew's meals. * Guest provisioning: This depends entirely on your preferences and the food, beverages and alcohol you would like onboard. Your cook will organize the shopping according to your preferences so everything is ready for your arrival. All costs shown are for the entire group, not per person. Adding an additional guest after booking, provided the yacht's layout and permitted capacity allow it, does not change the weekly yacht price.

What can we expect from meals onboard?

Meals are an important part of life onboard and are based around fresh, Greek and Mediterranean flavors, adapted to your group's preferences and dietary requirements. With our standard two-person crew setup (Captain and Cook/Host), the natural rhythm is breakfast followed by a substantial lunch or late lunch onboard, while evenings are a wonderful opportunity to step ashore and discover local restaurants and tavernas. One or two dinners onboard can also be arranged. On yachts operating with a three-person crew, the dining experience can be more extensive.

What is a typical day onboard like?

There really is no fixed schedule - and that is part of the experience. You may wake up in a quiet bay, have breakfast onboard and sail in the morning before stopping somewhere beautiful for swimming, paddleboarding or snorkeling. Lunch is often enjoyed onboard, followed by another short sail or time at anchor before arriving at an island later in the day. Evenings can be spent exploring ashore, having dinner in a local restaurant or simply enjoying the yacht. Some days involve more sailing, others almost none. The rhythm develops naturally around the weather, the route and what your group feels like doing.

Is a yacht charter suitable for families or guests who are concerned about seasickness?

Absolutely, but choosing the right itinerary is important. Catamarans provide generous space and a stable platform at anchor, although any yacht will move when sailing in open water. For families, younger children or guests who are particularly sensitive to motion, the Saronic Gulf is often an excellent choice because distances are shorter and the waters are generally more protected. Your captain can also adapt the route according to the conditions and your group. Children are welcome onboard and remain under their parents' supervision throughout the charter. Weather is always monitored closely, and itineraries are adapted to avoid unpleasant conditions. The objective is comfort and enjoyment, not endurance sailing.

How do embarkation and disembarkation work?

Our charters operate on a Saturday-to-Saturday basis. On embarkation Saturday, yachts are typically ready from around 14:00 at our base in Alimos Marina, Athens. You are welcome to arrive at that time, board the yacht, and settle into your cabins. Your cook will have already arranged and purchased everything required for your meals, based on the preferences you have shared with us in advance. Everything will be onboard and ready for your arrival, so there is nothing else you need to organize. Once onboard: * The captain will welcome you and introduce the yacht. * A full safety briefing will take place. * You will discuss your preferences and possible routes based on the weather forecast. After these formalities, the trip begins immediately. Depending on your plans and weather conditions, you will usually sail for a few hours and enjoy your first swim or anchorage that very same day. On disembarkation, the yacht returns to the marina on Friday evening. You overnight onboard, and disembarkation takes place by 09:00 on Saturday morning. This timing allows the crew to properly clean, service and prepare the yacht for the next guests according to our standards.

Can we visit Santorini during a one-week charter from Athens?

Santorini is not realistically suited to a one-week charter from Athens. The distance requires more than long hours at sea and will quickly turn a sailing holiday into a trip focused simply on reaching one destination. This is not the nature of our trips. If Santorini is important to you, we strongly recommend spending two nights there before or after your charter. Flights from Athens take around 30-45 minutes and can often be found in the region of €80-€120, depending on dates and availability. And there is another reason we recommend experiencing Santorini this way: the real magic of Santorini is on the island, not around it. Its dramatic cliffs, villages, caldera views and sunsets are what make it exceptional. The surrounding waters are very deep, with steep and rocky coastlines, so it offers a very different experience from the bays, beaches and swimming stops that make a week by yacht so special. Our advice is simple: Santorini is absolutely worth visiting - but visit it by plane, and save your sailing week for the islands best experienced from the water. If you are chartering for two weeks, the picture changes completely. Santorini can then become part of a broader Cyclades itinerary without forcing the entire trip to revolve around getting there.

Can we visit Mykonos, Naxos and other Cycladic islands in one week?

Some islands can be combined within a week; others cannot - at least not without sacrificing comfort. Mykonos and Paros are feasible from Athens within a week under favorable conditions. Santorini, Patmos, Anafi, and other southern or eastern islands are located over 180 nautical miles away and are not realistically reachable within a one-week sailing vacation without excessive daily sailing hours. For these distant islands, we strongly recommend visiting them by ferry or plane before or after your sailing trip. The true experience of a sailing vacation lies in balance, not in covering maximum miles.

What happens if the weather is bad? Will the trip be canceled?

Trips are weather-dependent, but this does not mean they are canceled. If strong winds or unfavorable conditions arise, the itinerary is adjusted to more protected areas. To date, we have not lost a single trip due to weather. Greece offers many alternative routes that remain beautiful and enjoyable even when conditions in one region are not ideal. Flexibility is essential and a key for a successful trip along with an elevated experience.
